There are a lot of rules involved in selecting a name for a company.  Now, due to some random cause if the company name has to be changed, it requires the constant consultation of the Register of companies (ROC). And this is not a very simple process either. A well-defined set of procedure has to be followed strictly in order to achieve the desired result.


The following procedures are to be followed necessarily to change the company name:

Step 1:  A resolution for change of name is required.

Step 2: Check the availability of the company name.

Step 3: A special resolution for change in company name, memorandum of association and articles of association must be passed.

Step 4:  Along with the fees, an application for company name change must be made.

Step 5: The company name change is complete only when the registrar of company issues the new certificate of incorporation.

Step 6: The name of the company has to be changed to the new one in a memorandum of the association and articles of association.
